Sky anytime which box

Sky show two different ways of connecting the box to the Internet on their website. The first way, is by using an ethernet cable. Ethernet cables are available in most electronics and computing stores as well as online at places such as Amazon for a fairly modest price. You may even have one hanging about the house — well now could be the perfect time to use it!

For most of though, an ethernet cable will not be suitable or wanted. Well, lets have a little look at what a Sky Wireless Connector really is. Well, nothing! But, lets just go over the small disadvantages for a second.

Configure the wifi bridge to connect to your router — you should be able to test the settings either in the manufacturers software provider with the wifi bridge or by testing it out on the computer that you set it up on. One other thing to note is power sources. A lot of the Showcase content will have been pre-downloaded onto your hard disc so you can start instantly. What you can see will depend on your subscription, although there will always be something there to tease you to upgrade.

If you like something, you can either watch it instantly or download it to watch later. Most films and TV shows in the Showcase and Most Popular categories will be already downloaded to your hard disc via the satellite connection. Powerline The alternative to wireless is a powerline network connection, which uses your mains wiring to piggy-back a network connection to your router. Press the Sky button on your remote and use the cursor keys to go up to the top menu bar and press right or left until the Options menu appears. Press down once, and right or left until the Customise menu appears.

For channels lower down the EPG it provides an interesting advertising window for their programming. At launch, there will be no adverts within the downloaded programmes. Once on your disk you will see a preview window in the top right hand side and a description on the top left hand side changing as you cursor down the programmes that are on the hard disk.

The layout also has a date at which the programme will be deleted but just hit the record button and the programme will be saved to your planner to keep for the future. Beware: if you then delete it from the planner it will be gone from the Anytime TV list as well. The overnight download will happen automatically and if you have recordings running yours will take preference.

To deal with the issue of missed recordings Sky will be retransmitting programmes a number of times to ensure that when your box is inactive it will get all the programming.
