Smith will struggle to get Decker the ball with consistency. He struggles in making good reads and tends to both undershoot and overshoot his targets when given enough time. He appeared antsy in the pocket at times in , and that's something that will hurt Decker's chances of replicating his success from the past two seasons.
Even if Smith improves heading into Year 2 as the Jets' signal-caller, there's no way he'll be able to keep Decker happy. Opposing defenses will zero in on Decker when it becomes apparent that he is Smith's favorite target, and the young passer won't be able to check down to his second or third looks. Decker represents a sure-fire upgrade over what the Jets currently have in place, but even that won't help him maintain his production from the past two seasons.
He'll be sorely missing Manning once he remembers what it's like to catch passes from somebody else. Follow me on Twitter to debate Decker and the Jets: kennydejohn. Enjoy our content? Unsure of what the future would hold for him, fantasy owners were left with unanswered questions and a difficult decision; drop or bench Decker. He will undergo surgery that will take approximately six to eight months to heal from.
Although this is horrible news for fantasy football owners, you can now cut the dead weight from your roster. What should owners do now? Then he dropped two more in a side-session with Tom Brady. That led Decker to chuck a football and punch his helmet in frustration.
Brady then approached him for a quick sympathetic fist-bump. Decker is competing for a job at the moment. That pressure makes what Decker did over the course of the remainder of the practice relatively impressive. Instead of letting his day spiral into a waste of a couple of hours, he caught his next four catchable targets. One pass from Brady, a deep shot down the sideline with Jonathan Jones close in coverage, was one of the prettiest connections of the day.
We're gonna make mistakes. Don't let it become a habit. Don't let it happen over and over again. You gotta understand that you gotta bounce back and they're going to ask you to respond. It's not really what you do in that moment, it's how you react to it.
