Driver units consist of a moving magnetic armature that is hinged so it can move around the field of permanent magnets. They are precisely centered in the magnetic field to balance the net force on the armature; hence their name, balanced armature drivers.

This makes the diaphragm move which creates sound waves. It consumes less power and produces more sound compared with other drivers. This type of driver is used in studio headphones. The diaphragm is set between two magnets, a coil is set to go through the diaphragm in a serpentine pattern to create an electromagnetic field which further interacts with the magnetic field to produce sound.
